Smoking
is a dangerous habit and unfortunately, more than 2.1 billion people in this
world is addicted to it. As tobacco is main content of cigarette, which
contains nicotine, hence it is difficult to quit this habit. Many researches
are been done to help smoker to quit this dreadful habit but only few people
uses it to quit smoking. People think that smoking is injurious to their health
only but the reality is that it is dangerous for them as well as for society
and environment. Following are some effects of smoking on society and
environment –
It makes others ill - many researches reveal that the people who spent most
of their time to smokers are more likely to get ill. This is because they
continuously inhale the nicotine smokes. If you are smoking near to the kids
then you may ends up making them ill.
Chemicals – you will be amazed to know that more than 4000
chemicals are been released by the cigarette and hence the air pollution
increases. Moreover, 15 mg of pollutant are been released by every cigarette which
again pollutes the environment at rapid pace.
Soil pollution – a cigarette butt takes 26 years to decompose and every
day a regular smoker left 3-4 butts on land. These butts create land pollution.
Water pollution - cigarette butts not only pollutes soil but also
pollutes land waters as well. Many water bodies contain nicotine and it is the
result of the cigarette butts.
Entice kids to start smoking – if kids are watching smokers daily then they develop a
desire to start smoking, which is really a threatening sign to the society.
Try
to avoid this habit and if you are smoking then please avoid smoking in the
society. It would be great if you smoke alone so that others do not inhale the
dangerous air.
